Just because I’m a Chick doesn’t mean I can’t grill my meat!

Leslie apron grill charmsI was never the Entrepreneurial type, as a matter of fact, my whole life I pictured myself working for a few years once I got out of college and then I knew I would leave whatever career I chose to be a stay-at-home mom. My mother was a stay-at-home mom and in my mind, best role model a young daughter could have.

I followed my “plan” to the letter UNTIL…. After 9 years of working for a company, leaving that company to start a family and 3 years into my dream of “stay-at-home”-hood I hosted a dinner party that changed my life and thrust me into a very INTERESTING JOB! In 1 instant, my life went from very happy stay-at-home to inventor/entrepreneur in the MALE DOMINATED “sport” of grilling!

I am Founder and President of a grilling gadget empire, when my whole life all I ever thought of being the President of was MAYBE my daughter’s PTA. When I tell people (mostly guys) when asked “so what do you do” and I say “I invented a grilling accessory”, I can’t begin to tell you how many times they reply “Oh… that’s nice… what kind of “curling” accessory?”

WHAT??!!! JUST BECAUSE I’M A CHICK MEANS I NEED TO BE CURLING MY HAIR AND NOT GRILLING MY MEAT?

It’s amazing being a grilling gadget girl in a grilling man’s world!

Leslie – this is such a brilliant idea! I have food allergies and I have to be very cautious about what touches my food. I am totally going to be checking out your site!

It is interesting how some people just can’t “hear” you correctly. I can’t tell you how many times that has happened to me. I once told a lady I play drums and she replied “Oh I like to hum along to the music, too.” Sigh.

Thanks so much for sharing. Genius ideas are everywhere – so glad to see women taking those ideas and making them happen!
