I’ve Joined the Dark Side

Yup – I did it. I bought a Mac. I am supposed to be on a physical vacation, but apparently I am on a mental one, too. ;) I think my geekiness has reached a whole new level. b-)

Awesome – thanks for the links. I’m getting up to speed really quickly and I almost have all my data transferred over from my Windows laptop. By the end of the week I should be flying… :d

  • Hi Gretchen:

Congratulations! I think you will love it. And just in case you didn’t know, any 2 button mouse will work fine on the Mac. I like the Logitech brand.

There are a few differences with moving files on a Mac with the right button. Launch 2 finder windows and you can navigate nicely in OSX.

A couple of great sites for learning more about the Mac are http://www.typicalmacuser.com, http://www.maccast.com and http://www.screencastsonline.com

    All the best,

Yeah – I’m taking pictures. I would upload them, ‘cept this Mac doesn’t have an SD card slot and I didn’t bring a card reader or a firewire cable. The best I can do is fire up the other laptop, download the pics from the card and then send them to myself via gmail and retrieve them on the Mac. Haven’t gotten that far yet, though. Maybe tonight… :-?

  • You are such a loser. LOL Buying a computer on your vacation AND logging in instead of “vacationing.” I’ll bet your husband is ready to throw that new beautiful Mac out the window as you zoom past all the national landmarks. :D
Yes, geekiness has reached a new level. But I, for one, would expect nothing less from you, my friend.
    ;)
I hope you’re taking pictures in the midst of all your searching for wifi signals. :D

I think I can live with it. I’m not using a mouse for the most part anyway. Trying to get by with just the touch pad. So far so good. Trying to transfer data from one machine to another while speeding down the interstate is quite a challenge. I check for a wifi connection at every stop. Why is there no wifi at rest stops? :-w

Wow! All around me, people are voluntarily giving up their left mouse button!
