Inspiring Ninth Grader Self-Publishes Three Novels – with more coming

The following is a guest post and it’s a must-read for aspiring writers!

Mount Pleasant, SC ninth-grader Sarah Renee has earned the title of Published Author– twice (and counting!) – with her third book, Hunted Home, due out next month. The ambitious teen has been writing seriously, usually five to seven hours a day!, since the incredible age of 9 and has published two novels for young readers, both through Amazon.com’s CreateSpace self-publishing platform.

Ms. Renee’s first novel, The Tiger Princess, follows a young tiger’s journey to discover the truth about her parents’ disappearance. Dash, the second book in the series, is about an orphaned lion with a dark past whose tale becomes intertwined with the author’s tiger heroine. Both titles contain a healthy dose of fantasy, mystery and mysticism to appeal to readers of all ages.

Sarah Renee and her mom, her biggest supporter, chose to pave their own way and publish through CreateSpace to retain complete creative control over both the content and the artwork, as Sarah Renee is also an artist, and designed the book covers for both titles! Using CreateSpace also enabled Sarah Renee to meet another important goal: to publish her books before she turned 18!, a feat she would have been hard-pressed to accomplish through a traditional publisher.

And she’s not done yet! Sarah Renee found the process of publishing her work to be so simple that she plans to use the platform for another of her projects, a planned 15-book series, entitled The Saderia Series. Common to all the books is a storyline big on adventure and interwoven with intriguing ancient mysteries that stimulate the imagination of readers young and old.

Sarah Renee’s success with CreateSpace and self-publishing proves that ALL girls CAN write and CAN achieve their dreams – literary and beyond. Every girl has a story to tell, fiction, nonfiction, funny, sad, inspiring, intriguing, and just like Sarah Renee, they can do it too!

  • Thank you Gretchen for this nice piece you wrote about my daughter, Sarah Renée. I am her very proud mom and she never ceases to amaze me and one of the wonderful things that has come from us doing this is that it is helping to inspire other kids around the world to go for their dreams.
