If you could invent anything you wanted, what would it be?

While showering this morning it occurred to me that if I had a device that would transcribe my thoughts while I bathed, I could save a ton of time.

Because some of my best writing happens in the shower.

Where I have no paper, no pencils, no nada.

And my MacBook is not waterproof. Dang!

I’ve seen a lot of really good ideas get washed down the drain before I’ve had time to even reach for a towel.

So today I’m thinking it would be really cool to be able to insert a microchip into my brain somewhere and record my thought stream.  Then I could just download it into my Mac as soon as I get back to my office.  That would be pretty sweet, eh?  The ultimate in multi-tasking!  :D

So if you could invent absolutely anything in the world, what would it be?

    Cool idea Andrew – thanks!

  • Hi Gretchen:

For recording those bathtime thoughts, look for a water-resistant mp3 recorder!

I have a pile of inventions scribbled in an inventor’s notebook and recommend anyone else with ideas that you’d like to market do the same. Check out “Patent it Yourself” for some great guidelines on how to make an inventor’s notebook.

    All the best!

My muse is a clean-freak – ha! I think you’re onto something there. I would totally do the borg implants for that kind of time-savings!

  • I think some of us have muses that are just complete clean-freaks, lol–I get most of my ideas in the shower, too.

A while back I actually did find some waterproof digital voice recorders, which would mostly solve the problem but never did order one. Still might, one of these days!

Along the same lines as your thought, I’d love a digital camera implant where I could record all those little moments I see that I’d love to look back on in reality, instead of the fuzzy mental image my mind already saves. Borg cybernetic implants, you say? Sure!
