Girls Who Drive Monster Trucks

Who remembers Stompers? You know, those little 4×4 toy trucks that were motorized and could climb over all kinds of stuff you put in their path.

My neighbor and I burned through cases of batteries running our trucks through obstacle courses in my sandbox.

We could change their tires and some even had headlights so we could use them in the dark. I loved my Stompers!

Madusa Monster Truck

Along with Stompers came Monster Trucks. In 1981, we saw the first of the car crushing stunts with a truck called “Big Foot” and a new sport was born. Soon Monster Trucks were all the rage and our sandbox stunts became even more dare-devilish.

And while Monster Trucking was initially dominated by men, the women weren’t about to be left out of the show.

Female drivers like Madusa and Jocelyn Perrin soon crashed the scene and leveled the playing field.

Monster Truck Driver Now I don’t have my Stomper trucks anymore, but I still think Monster Trucks and off-road vehicles are freaking awesome. So I decide to draw one for Girls Can’t WHAT? just to see how it would turn out.

I tried to make one that looked like one of my Stomper trucks and put a girl in the driver’s seat. What do you think?
