Brittany And Jade Want To Try Out For Football

My name is Brittany and me and my friend Jade are going to try to get on the football team at school.  Jade already tried last year but they told her no because she was a girl.  I didn’t know her then but I get where she is coming from.  I tried to get on the basket ball team last year and was told no, too, because I was a girl and this year the boys got wind of the fact that we’re going to train this summer and try out next year and they’re starting to get us down and we would really like some help to keep going and if anyone has info on training we would love it.

Thanks!

Girls can do anything we want to as long as we set our minds to it.

  • For training tips it good to always be active. When you get to play football practices are about 3 hours long and happen no matter what the weather. I would say that doing some running and sprints with high knees, zig zags between cones, change of direction drills, work on catching, throwing, and if you have a partner blocking. Look up and don’t be afraid to push with not only your arms but your legs with short choppy movements. Always always stretch before you do anything!

Hey Brittany – do you have parents or adults that support you? If not, try to find a few adults that can help you work through the school and try out for the team.
