Rachel Became Football Captain

Submitted By: Rachel Stone | Age: 17

I was told I couldn’t play football in primary school when I was younger.  I was encouraged to play Netball or something else. I was upset but put it down to my poor skill.  That was until I moved up to High School and was not only able to play football but was able to captain. How bizarre?

I still get it now when I have a kick about with my male mates they are surprised that a women can play just as well as them, other comments were to do with my sexuality which is also false, how dare a heterosexual women play a sport to keep fit, would they rather I was a fat “lady like” person. I laugh about it now.
