Girls Can’t Take a Bullet

Alexis GogginsDang. Major hero worship to this 7 year old girl who jumped in front of a gunman to shield her mother from a spray of deadly bullets. I’ve featured and interviewed a lot of brave women on Girls Can’t WHAT?™, but Alexis Goggins takes the cake. No fear. I want to meet this girl! I think she has inspired a new super hero design. Wow!

For those of you holding your breath on the outcome of this story and afraid to click the link to read the full story, Alexis is currently in stable condition with 6 gunshot wounds to her head and torso. She is recovering well, although she has a long way to go…

A hero’s fund has been set up for Alexis:
Checks should be made out to the Alexis Goggins Hero Fund and sent to Campbell Elementary School in care of the Alexis Goggins Hero Fund, 2301 E Alexandrine St, Detroit, 48207. For information, call (313) 494-2052.

Strange thing here is that I didn’t see this on the news. I only found out about it by reading other people’s blogs. Why isn’t this all over the news? This is an amazing story!

Oh – and get this…the gunman was a four-time convicted felon. What happened to 3 strikes and you’re out?

wow, im sorry but websites like these are bullshit. when a human of the male race takes serious risks to save the ones he loves all of the women out there prefer to look the other-way and say: thats cool but i heard of a girl who did that. Im not saying that girls shouldnt get accredited for their marvelous deeds but having a website called “Girls cant WHAT” in my opinion is a piece of crap because now she is getting recodnised and she is getting help but her male friends who need it as well arent getting any because stupid websites like these are raising the image of girls out there but are also lowering the image for guys. fun fact: 6% of men are sexist but 46% of women acuse men of being sexist. My point being is that by only showing stories about girls is excluding more than 50% of the human race!

If you’ve never walked in a woman’s shoes, then you have no idea how she feels. Your privilege is showing.

What does that have to do with anything?

  • Huh. No mention of the father at all (or even “a” father at all).

    Shocking.

Interesting…I do watch Fox News….just about every weekday at 5am while I’m working out at the gym. I don’t usually listen to it through the headphones, but I do read the headlines and can still see the photos and video clips, but I still didn’t see anything about this story. :-??

  • This is a wonderful story, and this little girl amazes me!!

Steel, I don’t have cable, and it’s a good thing–because if I did, Fox News would be on ALL day long and I’d never get anything done. :D

“Lamestream” media. I’m snagging that phrase. ;)

(And for the record, Gretchen, were you watching our lame-o LOCAL news? You got that there new fangled CABLE now, don’tcha?) ;) =))

  • You watch the wrong news.

Fox News was all over this story, for a couple of days.

You really don’t expect any good or uplifting news from CNN or MSNBC or the lamestream media, do you?

They are in the business of convincing you that the world is going to hell and it is all YOUR fault. Or George Bush’s. Or Dick Cheney’s.

Change channels and see what ‘fair & balanced’ really means.
