Nicola Wants To Own Her Own Mechanics Shop

Submitted By: Nicola | Age: 16

I remember two years ago when I announced to my family my dream of owning my own mechanics garage and using it as a rehabilitation centre for women who have suffered from social injustice and need to start over. Everyone was in shock. To be honest I’m not to sure why- I’ve always had a passion for cars and social injustice, but hey.

Anyway my dad never did believe in me and told me to my face I’d never even finish one term in Engineering at highschool off, and I would give up because I’d never be able to do it. Anywho this is my second year taking Engineering at highschool and I’m sooooooo keen to just get on with my life and carry on with Engineering straight into University. I have one more year of Engineering to complete but last year after lots of struggles (including being only one of two girls in the class) I completed the year with all 24 credits and top mark in the class for the mirror I designed and made (which happened to be hot pink!)!

So it just goes to show girls can do engineering!!

Nicola you do have a great passion and it’s wonderful to see you making plans at such a young age! You are on the right path and your ideas to help women in the process are fantastic. Keep up the good work and let us know how it is going. You have our full support. :) >-
