In case you haven’t caught the news lately, there have been a string of political firsts for women. In Chile they have elected their first female President, Michele Bachelet. She is the first woman in their history to hold this position. In the Caribbean, Portia “Sista P” Simpson-Miller took office as the first female prime minister of Jamaica.

In other related news, Pakistan has inducted 4 women fighter pilots into its military ranks.
This is the first time women have been allowed into the military as
fighter pilots. One of the pilots, 22 year old Officer Gul stated “I
want to fly fighter jets and prove that girls can equally serve our
country in the best possible manner as men are doing.” You go girl!

Our country is on the verge of a Mrs. United States, and I am not talking about a Beauty Pageant. I am talking about our first woman president. Is America really ready for this? What about Military warfare? If anyone has seen the TV series, “Command in Chief,” it gives a good view on what to expect. I know it’s Hollywood, but sometimes America believes in Hollywood. A question to ponder, are you ready for a Mrs. President? Please share your views.
