Girls Can’t Take a Bullet

Posted by: gretchen on December 13, 2007 |

Alexis GogginsDang. Major hero worship to this 7 year old girl who jumped in front of a gunman to shield her mother from a spray of deadly bullets. I’ve featured and interviewed a lot of brave women on Girls Can’t WHAT?™, but Alexis Goggins takes the cake. No fear. I want to meet this girl! I think she has inspired a new super hero design. Wow!

For those of you holding your breath on the outcome of this story and afraid to click the link to read the full story, Alexis is currently in stable condition with 6 gunshot wounds to her head and torso. She is recovering well, although she has a long way to go…

A hero’s fund has been set up for Alexis:
Checks should be made out to the Alexis Goggins Hero Fund and sent to Campbell Elementary School in care of the Alexis Goggins Hero Fund, 2301 E Alexandrine St, Detroit, 48207. For information, call (313) 494-2052.

Strange thing here is that I didn’t see this on the news. I only found out about it by reading other people’s blogs. Why isn’t this all over the news? This is an amazing story!

Oh - and get this…the gunman was a four-time convicted felon. What happened to 3 strikes and you’re out?

    You watch the wrong news.

Fox News was all over this story, for a couple of days.

You really don’t expect any good or uplifting news from CNN or MSNBC or the lamestream media, do you?

They are in the business of convincing you that the world is going to hell and it is all YOUR fault. Or George Bush’s. Or Dick Cheney’s.

Change channels and see what ‘fair & balanced’ really means.

This is a wonderful story, and this little girl amazes me!!

Steel, I don’t have cable, and it’s a good thing–because if I did, Fox News would be on ALL day long and I’d never get anything done. :D

“Lamestream” media. I’m snagging that phrase. ;)

(And for the record, Gretchen, were you watching our lame-o LOCAL news? You got that there new fangled CABLE now, don’tcha?) ;) =))

Interesting…I do watch Fox News….just about every weekday at 5am while I’m working out at the gym. I don’t usually listen to it through the headphones, but I do read the headlines and can still see the photos and video clips, but I still didn’t see anything about this story. :-??

Huh. No mention of the father at all (or even “a” father at all).

    Shocking.
