Ticket Scalpers Should Be Shot

Posted by: gretchen on August 18, 2007 |

My daughters have had their heart set on seeing Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana in concert for several weeks now. Being a responsible parent, I made a note on my calendar and set an alarm so that I could get 4 tickets for our family to see the concert in St. Louis, MO on October 18th. Tickets went on sale at 10:00am this morning. I logged into my computer at 9:41am, pulled up the Ticketmaster web site and clicked on the Hannah Montana banner ad taking me straight to the ticket page where I was greeted with a message that tickets were not yet available for this event.

At precisely 10:00am, I refreshed the page and entered my order for 4 tickets. After a 5-minute wait, I was told none were available in that price range. I reset my options to see all available tickets and after about a 2-minute wait I was again told none were available. I tried several more times, even calling ticketmaster numbers in my area only to get a busy signal. I also tried other venues within a reasonable driving distance, but no dice. It was evident that Hannah Montana was sold out everywhere. So I did what any parent would do when their kids are desperate to see Miley Cyrus, I went to ebay.

What an eye-opener. Not only could I get the tickets, but I could pay 10 TIMES the amount for them. Nosebleed seats were going for $250.00 a piece. A spot on the floor in the second row would cost me $1500.00 for ONE ticket. Unbelievable. Needless to say, at those outrageous prices, my kids will not be seeing Miley on this tour and I am ticked! My family didn’t even have a chance to get the tickets at the NORMAL price before scalpers swept in and bought them all in order to line their pockets. Would any of you scalpers care to spare a dollar so I can use it to wipe up my kids’ tears? x(

Not to mention the tears of thousands of other little girls whose parents can’t afford to pay those prices either. Ticket scalpers should be shot!

My daughters grandfather was second in line for the Nashville today August 25 in Nashville and the same thing happened. Scalpers are buying them early through the Miley site that sells to those who buy a membership. What a huge scam!!!

Yep - I figured they were buying them early through the Miley fan club membership. I also heard from a friend today who said she talked to a woman who was third in line for the St. Louis show and was told it was sold out 2 minutes after the ticket counter opened. It’s nuts. :-<

Same story here in Nashville. We should have joined the fan club in order to buy tickets early, but didn’t. As a result, we paid over 200 to get nosebleed section tickets, but by gosh, we’ll be there! I’ve seen lots of tickets available on online brokers for around 120 each. I think it’s worth it. The memories will be priceless.

I just can’t do that. Normal prices for the cheap seats were $25, meaning $100 for our family of four (not counting the cost of gas, food and a potential hotel stay). To pay $200 per ticket would run us well over $1,000 for one evening’s entertainment!

Oops–didn’t make myself clear. I paid over 200 for BOTH tickets, not each. I got only two, opting to stay at home and let my husband take our daughter to the concert.

This is out of control! Same story here in phoenix. How horrible is it that we have to tell our 7,8,9 year old girls they can’t see Hannah Montana because of scalpers. Isn’t there a better way to control this to give us “normal working people” a chance for our kids to go? Shame on Disney for not distributing these tickets differently. In addition, I looked for tix on ebay too and found sellers with tix for the phoenix show selling them from Iowa and Missouri. How does that work?

Same story here in Iowa. Tickets went on sale at 10:00 and I was on the computer five minutes beforehand. Right at 10:00 I was able to log on to TicketMaster to find out in five minutes I couldn’t get seats. Ticket scalping legal as outrageous as that is. We need to band together and lobby congress to make it an illegal practice to scalp tickets or this is a practice that will NEVER change.

I’ve been thinking about this, and I’m not sure legislation would really stop anyone. It might deter a few people, but then others would just snatch up more tickets to sell. I think the bottom line is that people need to refuse to pay these outrageous prices in the first place. As long as people are willing to pay, scalpers will continue to exist.

I have the same argument for professional sports, but that’s another rant… :-\

As I type this, I am fully aware that my opinion is not going to be well received, and that’s fine. We are all entitled to our own opinion. There are more people wanting to see Hannah Montana than there are available tickets. Most people on this board could have joined the fan club and purchased tickets early, but we did not. Therefore, if seeing this concert is so important, there are tickets available.

I realize families are on a budget. We are too. I also realize that a few hundred dollars will not break most people, and if it will, they probably shouldn’t have been spending the original ticket value price anyway. There are numerous ways to offset spending so much on the tickets. Christmas is coming soon. Let the ticket be an early gift. My daughter’s tickets are in leiu of a big birthday party and gift, and at the age of 6, she fully understands that if you really want something, you make sacrifices. Don’t take the entire family. Dad would probably be happy to not go, anyway.

That being said, I do see the argument. Are online ticket brokers legal? Yes. Fair? No, but we all know that life is not fair. The laws of supply and demand allow ticket brokers to make their living. It’s that simple.

For those of you who demand we not pay high prices for tickets, you have a valid point, but either way, there will not be enough tickets to go around, and little girls not getting tickets will still be left crying.

I do think that as concert time approaches, the prices will lower at the online brokers’ sites. Maybe you and your girls will still be able to go. If you choose to use a scalper, that is.

I read your item about ticket brokers being shot. I am not full time at selling tickets, but quite frankly it is a business just like plumbing, electrical or even accounting. You may be able to unstop your on toilet, but can’t change an electrical switch. That $.59 cent item will cost most home owners around $90 to have just one $.059 cent item installed. Does that mean that electricians should be shot as well? Hate to burst your bubble, but only 25% of the tickets are bought by brokers. Think about an event where there are say 100,000 teenage girls in the area and there are only 15,000 seats. The computer is goint to be clogged up big time. Don’t blame all the ticket brokers for you not getting into the show. Read the internet a little more and figure out how to get these tickets. I used to think the same way you do, but did some research and found out that it’s actually pretty easy to get tickets. I love UFC. That’s fighting events if you are not aware. My first research showed that I would have to pay $1000-$2000 for one seat on the 1st to 5th row. I did my home work and was able to buy 2 tickets 5th row for below ticket price. Give you an idea I got two seats for $765 and each ticket was $800 each plus the handling fee. How did I do it? Research. Last month I bought 16 tickets to resale. Because I have figured out a way to get the tickets and sell them for a premium I will probably make $5000 clear and up to $12,000 clear on those 16 tickets. Is it my fault that buyers of tickets don’t know how to get them? No we all have the exact same access to get tickets we just know a few more tricks than the average person. Putting that electrical socket in takes less than 3 minutes and two tools, however most people will not try to figure out what it takes to do it and will pay $100 bucks for something that would cost them the time to go to the store and come back and disconnect and reconnect two wires in most cases. Point is don’t bash people for the knowledge that it took to get the tickets. You can do the same exact same thing and make several thousand dollars a month extra. By me selling tickets it allows me to travel several days out of each month with the profit and see the events free. Old saying never complain about what you permit. Get knowledge and you will rule your industry. I will tell you one trick to getting tickets and you will have to research the rest. Keep in mind that ALL concerts are required to keep handicap spaces. Usually in perfect locations. If no one that is handicap buys the tickets those tickets are available. Now do your homework and you could be front row. later b

I had the exact same experience here… I am a small business owner and understand the argument of “open marketplace” but don’t agree in any way with it in this case. This is not the case of a plumber providing a service that the homeowner can not do themselves… that is “ticketmaster” in this case selling the tickets that the concert fan can not get without them. This is simply a predatory practice for someone to leap in and snap up the tickets to a hot concert and then immediately try and re-sell them to the fans that should have had an opportunity to buy them at cost. I looked on e-bay and the 15 people selling tickets to the concert in St. Louis… almost all were from other states. It’s an odd situation that to buy a ticket to a Rams game and try and do the same thing is illegal in St. Louis but there is no similar law for concerts. Funny… if any of these scalpers were to go into the only grocery store around that sells their favorite beer only to find out that someone had bought it all and was standing in the parking lot selling it for 10 times the price… they would think that was crap and it is likely the store would have them arrested… but there is no reciprocal thought for concerts. My real question is why is this not a story in the post?

Quick comment on the Hannah Montana tickets, I did
join the fan club so we could get early ticket access. The day they went on sale in los angeles
for the fan club, I was on the ticketmaster site
ready to buy 2 tix, and at 10am the only tickets
I could buy were nosebleeds…so even having the
membership, it didn’t help me. I ended up accidentally buying 1 ticket thru ticketmaster when I meant to buy 2. But fate must have been
with me, because while checking out ebay yesterday
I found someone selling the ticket next to the one I bought..a little over face value but now I have 2 for under $200

I am a fan club member and tickets were not available for the pre-sale either. I called exactly at 10am and nothing. We had 5 computers going on this afternoon for the regular sale, and nothing was available. (For the Minneapolis show) There is something fishy going on…

Very sad situation here in Minnesota too. Tix went on sale this past Sat. 9/8 at 12noon here- we were on-line looking right away at 11:55 and found out that none were available.

I understand the pre-sale process and have purchased tickets that way myself in the past for other shows. But usually a pre-sale is limited - meaning they will not sell over a certain amount to allow the reminder to be released for the regular sale. Why didn’t Disney do a better job of finding out who was signing up for their “fan-club” to get the pre-sale code?

While I don’t think violence towards scalpers is the answer, there does need to be some type of regulation set on these practices. The ideal consumer for this type of show is kids, therefore prices should be reasonable enough for an entire family to go and enjoy together.

There is a huge problem when this is allowed and going on all over the country. Pretty soon people will refuse to go to concerts because the cost is too prohibitive- so its up to the perfomers to also get themselves involved in how their image is being marketed and make some changes. Wishful thinking, I know- but I can hope.

its a huge scam all OVER!!! and I GOT THE SCAM OF A MEMBERSHIP at her website.. and STILL COULDNT GET TICKETS.. its unbelieveable!!!! I was up at 10am on the dot today because presale started today.. and funny in 30 secs they were all sold out.. ticketmaster and mileyworld.com is a HUGE SCAM .. but what is even more funny.. is that all the “ticket” sites can sell you tickets for a place before they are even on sale to the general public for 250 a ticket! in the NOSE BLEED section. .. I really really really hope that no kids show up for these concerts. I also dont see many parents forking out 250 a ticket for nosebleed.. or 2000 for floor tickets either. This should be illegal!?! I am so upset and angry. Its sick how she ( miley cryus ) is trying to get rich off her fans… You know she knows this is going on.. I mean come on!!! sorry to sound so bitter.. but I’m still just so angry!!!

While I agree something strange is going on here, I don’t think we can hold Miley (or any other artist) responsible for this. First of all, Miley is just a kid and probably somewhat naive as to what is going on. Having a music business degree, managing a band and knowing more about the entertainment industry than I care to know, I am willing to bet Miley has no idea that this is even going on. Most artists don’t pay any attention to those kinds of details. They show up, perform and leave the details to the management. That being said, greed is definitely involved here, but at what level I’m not exactly sure. I attend a few concerts every year for big name artists and have never once had trouble getting tickets. Something’s not right here. :-?

I think something stinks about this entire thing and I have been ticked all day. My kids are disappointed. I will try to get some when they go open to the public but doubt I will get them now.
I also e-mailed Miley World….. I am not holding my breathe for a response, but I would like a refund. You don’t offer your fans such crappy seats, whether she knows about it or not she is in with crooks. I know she is a kid but her parents should know better. Its all sad, I am VERY upset. I feel like I have been robbed!
Be glad you didn’t get ripped off through the fan club. I am embarrassed.

A victim like the rest of you today, paid $30 to become a member of Mileyworld, was in as the tickets went on sale for Chicago today…none available. I also tried last weekend in Minneapolis, none available for pre-sale or when they went on sale to the general public. Dollars to donuts there aren’t any available for Chicago this Saturday when they go on sale for the general public either. The Allstate Arena holds 18,500 plus 48 sky boxes…even at $66 a seat it’s about 1.2 million dollars for one night…and we all know that tickets aren’t going to $66 a piece (which if you ask me, as a dad, is pretty steep for a relatively manufactured “artist”). Now multiply that by the number of shows that they are doing and you see why this is rolling the way it is.

I think it’s safe to say that Disney has once again put together a brilliant product to get parents to shell out ridiculous amounts of money in the name of giving their kids a memory. It’s nothing new with Disney, it’s how they roll…what makes me mad is that I let me wife talk me into the fan club exclusive ticket pre-sale for our kids and two other friends. We were actually going to attempt to secure 9 tickets today..that’s three fan club memberships, three secret codes and better odd of winning the powerball lottery.

While I doubt that Mileyworld will refund any of the memberships that were purchased (you didn’t purchase tickets, you purchased the fan club access…which we all still have!)….but I’ll still try.

A couple of posters here like to blame the scalpers exclusively. trust me the box offices of the arenas, the promoters, the scalpers and the artists are all involved to some degree and know what is going on. I can guarantee that there are executives that have been in meetings all week at Disney trying to come up with ways to spin this most recent an blatant gouging display (and likely laughing at some of the blog posts and email that they are getting). They will all have very polite responses how it is out of their control and they are working on resolving the issues, but in the end nothing will change. Our kids will either get over missing the concert or we will end up paying $300 a seat for crappy seats just to go. Maybe they get a good memory, for sure you get a thousand dollar night with Miley that you can pay off over the next six months. Either way life will move on, our kids will get older and move into Disney’s next market, Miley will fade away and they will replace her with Faith Hill’s daughter or something (remember Lizzie McGuire?…Disney is a machine designed to tap parent’s wallets, it’s what they do).
OK, enough of a rant. As much as I dislike what is happening on the commercial side of Miley, I still like the show and the overall message that they are selling my kids on the show. My friends and I will joke about this for years to come…our precious Mileyworld fanclub memberships!

I wish something could be done about this, but it’s really just supply and demand with a twist of gouging…there are lots of kids that want to see Miley live, those with parents willing to spend the most money will get to…it is how the cream floats to the top.

I better get back to my two daughters with achey breakey hearts…they are still holding out hope for Saturday….they are so naive. Sorry for the verbosity…it’s how I vent.

I wish a rep for Miley would see these postings and do something about it! It sure is funny how these ticket liquidators have hundreds of tickets for sale. And for different states. From what I understand this concert may be one of the most popular in recent history. I’ve taken my son to see David Bowie, Velvet Revolver and many others. I’ve taken my daughter to Vanilla Ice, New Kids On The Block, etc. I’ve taken my granddaughter to 2 American Idol shows, Hilary Duff and now Hannah Montana. I feel fortunate. This post came up pretty high in the Google rankings for “hannah montana scalping”. I don’t see why scalpers, especially amateurs like myself, come in for such animosity. Whoever originally set the price knows many people would gladly pay more than $60. They should simply hold reverse-auction sales; they could easily start ticket prices at, say, $200 and drop the price as time passes. People would complain about that, of course, but there wouldn’t be nearly as many opportunities for arbitrage and the money would be going to the people who actually put on the show.

Maybe you think I should be shot, but in the event I’m lucky enough to get tickets to any of the 16 HM shows going on sale tomorrow, whoever buys them from me will disagree. There are only so many seats in an arena, and these tickets are priced incorrectly from the start. Until ticketing agents, venues, promoters, and artists figure out how to price these things so that we feel uncomfortable speculating in the tickets, don’t blame us for filling the gap. It’s not my fault that some parents have the ability and inclination to pay $1,000 for a night with Hannah Montana.

I also spent $30 for the membership to mileyworld.com and no pre-sale tickets were available. In less than 1 hour after finding this out, I attempted to cancel my charge by disputing the charge with my credit card company. They told me that “technically” it has not been charged yet since it is in a pre-authorization state, so I could not dispute it. The verbaige on mileyworld.com states that “Once your credit card has been charged, your membership is non-refundable,” so technically you have a brief period to cancel your charge. I think anyone else shoulod do the same and file a dispute with your credit card compnay - that is the only way enough attention is going to be done about this
!!! If peope at mileyworld.com do not think that people buy into the fan club just to get pre-sale tickets, they are mistaken (and they know it) and they cannot hide behind the “no guarantees to pre-sale tickets” clause. Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana tickets have been sold out in minutes for the pre-sale and also for the tickets sold to the general public. I too have a membership and could not get presale tickets of general admission. Some are saying that if the brokers do not sale all these tickets they will not come down on the price and there will just be empty seats. They do not care if they dont sell them all because they will make sooo much profit all the few they sell. Update on broker tickets, I’m now seeing ticket prices up to $4896.00 per ticket. And I too have noticed on EBAY one seller having at least 200 plus tickets to a show in MN. My daughter is more interested now in seeing the Jonas Brothers at the GA State Fair.

The more I’ve searched around on this problem, the more upset I’ve become. It’s obviously a much BIGGER problem than I originally thought. As I said before, I was logged on and literally searching for tickets 5 seconds after they went on sale, and in less than 20 seconds, it came back with the “sorry” screen of death. Now, really, how can that be possible? The Sprint Center in KC is new, and I’ve never been, but I’m guessing it holds 20K or more. So, they sold (let’s say) 15 thousand tickets in 25 seconds? I’ll guess 5K are already spoken for, leaving the 15K. I guess I’m just being naive to think that 3/4 of the tickets would be available to the public on the day of the sale.

I would very much like to get behind any and every petition/email/blog—whatever there is to put an end to this. With my daughter’s new found membership to mileysworld.com, I’ve been looking for a place to view my opinion on this matter, but all I can find is a chat room, which I don’t think is the correct forum for this. Anyone else know of a place on her website to vent? I did find her mailing address, perhaps if we send a few thousand handwritten letters to her, one might make it’s way to her eyes. I don’t know, I’m just so amazed by this.

I tried to get tickets today, did we get them, no? We were on 3 phones and 2 computers. I called ticketmaster, sold out too. My girls wanted to mostly see Jonas Bros, and so we will go see them when we can see them. They are great. So forget Hannah Montana, we got scammed into the membership, won’t do it again. We got so sick of trying for nothing this morning we decided we were not going to waste another moment of our life on it, we decided to go see Kelly Clarkson instead, they were happy. I will NOT pay scalpers those prices for Hannah Montana, like I said , we will try to see Jonas Bros somewhere soon.
Like I said in a prior post…. something is stinky about this!

Jonas Brothers tickets can be found through their site which directs you through their tour link to the Georgia National Fair. Went online purchased 4 for under $80.00 seats are floor level. All seats are priced the same $15.00 each. Hurry before ticket brokers figure this one out.

This is just sicking.Same thing happened to me here in North Carolina for the Greensboro show.I didn’t join Mileyworld because my daughter wasn’t sure if she really wanted it.But it should not have mattered though for us not to be able to even get a shot at the tickets.Me too up this morn by 9:30am turned on computer sat here with coffee ready to get tickets at ticketmaster.I did neglect to see on there that there was a 4 ticket minimum per household.WHAT???
So ok I typed in 4 tickets for best available. No matter what I typed in at 10am nothing was available.I did the same thing went to Ebay and every other ticket site.Saw the scalper greedy prices running from $100-$2000.In one case this evening I saw $4000.00.My goodness this is at the expense of the children wanting to see this girl whom they admire. Is it worth it??No.Well I’m sure they don’t care it’s about the almight dollar.I even went to Craigslist and several parents did the same as I asked for tix.One person responded to me with a link saying he wasn’t sure what show I was looking for and I had clearly checked North Carolina where she is only in Charlotte and Greensboro. He only had 2 listings one here and another for another state. He was a broker selling tickets outside of his home location.WOW…
I’ve had a headache from all of this.I’ve complained to Mileyworld, don’t care now.I did it because it’s not just me all of us all over the country now for this tour are experiencing this outrageousness.I just don’t see the sense in paying that much for a ticket.I’m on a budget as well all I can do is the best I can.My daughter is dealing with it ok though. But the point is they need a cap on the sales not allow the whole club to buy up all the tickets. They should monitor the ISP’s or names or something.Anything.

    re:
Consider yourself fortunate you did not throw the $30 away to join the Miley World Fan Club- as there were NO tickets available there in the first 2 minutes the pre-sale went “live”. The ticket were “already gone - and already posted on broker sites and ebay… et all?? Very, very fishy. I was certainly duped into believing purchasing the fan membership would assure our girls tickets. The $30 taken seems like fraud to me. I have read lots of feedback re: the fan club membership - and 95% says no tickets available immediately upon pre-sale release - and 5% nosebleed seats. The seats did not go to the fans. I wish my girls were dealing with it better… they really want us to buy the broker/ scalper seats. They have their hearts set on it…

Was anyone able to locate an email address or way to contact Miley World? (I could only find the kids chat board - not the place to share feedback.)

There is a place on Mileyworld to send them a “ticket” to ask questions. I sent 2 in the past week, guess what? No reply. I am telling you, those of you that landed tickets, I would bet that when you go there will be empty seats and lots of them. I am chalking up our fan club membership to one of my “stupid” things I have wasted my money on this year. The club is not worth $30, the chat doesn’t work properly and they are constantly asking my daughter personal questions ( other girls chatting) I never see a staff member or anything on there when she has been on and it actually worked. So I am sorry to see it didn’t just happen to us in Louisiana today. We have decided maybe there is some reason we weren’t meant to go. Take them to another show, I wouldn’t pay those scalpers because then you are enabling the scalpers to do it again. When Garth Brooks came here his shows were sold out, so you know what he did? He did two nights instead of the one.You also had to get wrist bands and things to buy the tickets. Seems to me that is a fair, and an honest thing to do. But thats what happens when greedy adults are making money off a young girl who has no idea about these things going on!

We had the same issues here in the Tampa area. I’m very upset with how this whole thing went down! Not that the show was sold out, I realize that happens, however…. it was very apparent that we NEVER had a chance to purchase the “presale” tickets or tickets that were supposedly sold to the public today! We too were on the computer and multiple phones, on both dates, feeling confident that we would come away with 4 seats. We would have been happy with ANY seats! What a joke!!! I had to explain to my daughter that money/greed means more to some people than the happiness of others. Our family doesn’t operate that way, so while we are VERY CAPABLE of paying these outrageous (and offensive) prices, we choose not to. This has been a real eye opener. I’m curious to know how these “business people” get their grubby paws on so many tickets when there is a 4 seat ticket limit. In response to a previous post that told us all to do our homework, I say….most decent people don’t have the desire to “research” all the ways to rob families of a nice, reasonably priced night out. I honestly can’t believe that I have to learn tricks to purchase concert tickets for my family!!! As for the tip on snatching up the handicap seats… if those seats are left open it’s probably because the handicapped person couldn’t get through to Ticketmaster or MileyWorld either. Thanks, but no thanks. The bottom line is… we’ve all been used and scammed! Believe me, if people would stand their ground on issues like this, EVERYONE involved on the business side of it would take notice and something would eventually change.

I have written a letter to the KC Star, and also sent my Congressman a letter asking him to open an investigation. I doubt either will do anything, but it’s a start. I urge you all to do the same, make these issues known! Flood mileysworld.com with complaints, demanding an explanation. We can sit here and bitch all day, but until we do something about it, don’t expect anything to happen.

Someone was posting it on Miley world last night.
On the local news, ktbs.com. They said they held a lottery AT the Century Tel, drew 100 numbers…. thats 400 tickets only. Very sad, glad I didn’t waste my time with driving up there, although I wasted it on the phone and the computer. My kids were taught a lesson also about greed! They told me they would NOT pay those scalpers that much money. I am glad to know that, because I really felt horrible when I could not follow through on my promise to take them. I refuse to pay that much money for that kind of thing, you could spend a day at Disney World — the entire family– for those prices!!!!!

I’ve emailed Mileyworld and will wait to see if they respond.I know with consumer complaints the only department that takes care of issues like this for us would be the Attorney General’s office of the state that Mileyworld is located in.So wherever the company conducts their business that is where to complain and they do listen. The congressman may shrug it off as they feel they have better things to do.Email Mileyworld at support@mileyworld.com and mileyworld@immstudio.com.Good luck everyone.Report back if anything comes thru via email for you guys.I will if I hear anything.

I too could pay those outrageous scalper prices but will not. I will be sitting out front of the Gwinnett Arena in my car while my 11 year old attends, cell phone in hand.

Prices will come down if parents refuse to buy at those outrageous prices. I’ve gotten great seats tat reasonable prices to concerts at the last minute.

Thanks to computers, remember when you used to camp out for a sell-out concert, (say Garth Brooks) and the way it went was 1st come 1st serve. I suppose those days are over, now it’s who has the fastest internet service. I’m sure scalpers can afford a fast processor, it’s worse than Wall Street. I have to admit, I did a little homework before these tickets went on sale. I’ve been here done this, somewhat, but the scalpers have never been worse.I also realize that the demand is way over whatever amount Bossier City holds, so somebody is going to get their feelings hurt. I did get presale tickets, but only 4 in nosebleed. Any by the way, why do people want to bitch about nosebleed when 100,000 people want to just get in the door. If you’re that spoiled, you can probably afford to pay a scalper to upgrade. Ok, I talked to a local guy that works at a ticketmaster location and he said that the tickets online were a different group of tickets than the tickets at the stores. I didn’t want to think this but it just my brain kept saying, “Now you know damn well the online ticketmaster has not saved any tickets, I’m sure they get a kick back from mileyworld, and business is business, and scaplers know this so you better just stand in line and get 3 more tickets. Anyway, that’s what I did, and they are on the floor. Which I didn’t care where they were as long as these little girls could get in I was happy. I live 21/2 hours from Bossier, My brother lives there and happened to tell my she was coming there, but had I lived within 1 hour radius, I probably wouldn’t have gotten any tickets at a ticketmaster store. You better drive a while and get 1st in line if anyone in the future wants these tickets after presale. Hope I could help anyone, They say always check back right before concert. New seats come up after they set up stage, I got on front row 1 time like that. Scalpers do SUCK!! Get a real job!!

The same things happend in Fort Worth as it has in all other cities. I too tried to get tickets in the Pre-Sale. I was online before it was open and could not get them. Ok, I will be able to get them on General Public Sale. Yeah, right. I was online before 10AM and still was not able to purchase any tickets. It appeared the tickets were sold out in the first minute. I was in the que for 4 minutes one tme and then it said there were no tickets available. I also saw on Go Tickets that there were tickets on sale before the Pre-Sale even happened. How could that be? Word is out our local channel 5 here in Atlanta did a spot last evening. They interviewed ticket master who claimed that many tickets were sold September 11th (presale for mileyword members)! Parents were interviewed who bought into the membership and again to no avail were able to purchase tickets!!! When Ticketmaster was asked how many presale membership tickets were sold compared to how many tickets were available for public sale they would not answer. Membership to mileyworld must be very heavy on elder male/female membership/ticket brokers. I would be interested in finding out just how many memberships were sold.
My last hope is that a lesson will be learned by FUTURE young artist’s and promoters who push fan club memberships. This practice has only enalbled greedy ticket brokers to the point of hurting our youth. Sadly, this will truly backfire on this young artist. My daughter accepted the fact that she will not be attending the concert and while dissapointed understands Right from WRONG!!

The majority of people that I spoke to that are Milyworld members joined to get a chance at presale tickets and did not get any. If you go to the site, it promotes the presale as a HUGE advantage of becoming a member. Presale in my city sold out in a minute. The problem goes deeper then the presale. I smell a rat!

I have said it before, we did a fan club membership. We were only offered seats in the top of the arena there is no way Shreveport sold out in 10 minutes on their pre-sale. We refused the tickets because we have been to see Cheetah girls there and sat up high like that and only watched a jumbo tron, we were so high up we couldn’t hardly breathe and were panicked the entire time. My girls told me they didn’t want those tickets, and believe me, they really wanted to go but not that bad. When we purchased those Cheetah girls tickets that was all that was available, and when we got there, there were plenty of good seats available. We went to High School Musical at the same arena and it was not sold out, in fact pretty empty and they came on a Saturday. We don’t think we are to good for the seats up high but we think if you PAY for a membership they should only offer good seats, and that just didn’t happen. I really think the website for MileyWorld is not worth $30 it really should be free. But we also do not want to ban anything Hannah Montana in our home, the show is still cute, her cd makes my 9 year old smile, and well, now we have a membership to her crappy fan club! ha ha We mostly wanted to see the Jonas Brothers. Regardless, I do not think it was any fault of The Cyrus’s I think it is the greedy promoters and ticket master, the tickets are ripe for the picking if you want to pay that kind of money for a ticket for 2 hours just to say your kids went…….. even though they couldn’t see a thing and basically watched it on TV the entire time. No thank you. If I could get a refund from MileyWorld I would, for no other reason than the membership isn’t worth a dime. They had features on this on both Shreveport news channels and basically nothing is being done, Ticket Master has a story they really did sell out, which they did because they sold to scalpers and not little kids! Maybe something will be done, probably not. Personally, I think she should do 2 shows, and one of those, if you paid to be a member of her fan club you should get a seat AND have to show your membership card. My kids are over it, although disappointed, but life is full of them and we can use this as a lesson learned. It seems these days, almost nothing is fair or right. I say no to the scalpers as a matter of principle not whether or not we can afford it. Thats not the point.

First off the fan club for $30? Nobody is going to renew their membership after this debacle.. the site is sunk. Secondly, as time goes on, many of us are getting over it.. meaning Hannah has seen her hey day. If she is going to leave the Disney nest and strike out as Miley on her own… sunk also. Scalpers had huge blocks of tickets prior to ticketmaster opening for public sale. I went to the mileyworld.com site and there is no mention or explanation for concerned fan’s. What prevents a ticket broker from buying a fan membership and inturn purchasing the majority of presale tickets. My daughter purchased the artists cd with her own money and received a 30 day free membership which resulted in receiving “NOTHING” It amazes me that news-stations are reporting this although they continue to sale memberships and the next presale for eastern states is September 25th. One last thought on the website

    Tickets purchased through MileyWorld.com are intended for personal use only. We do not allow the resale of any tickets. If you are found to be reselling or brokering tickets that you purchased through MileyWorld.com for profit, we reserve the right to cancel your membership without refund, ticket order and any other ticket orders etc; etc;

I wonder how they police this????? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could report scalpers tickets with the seat assignment to enforce the above!!!

Even with all that is happening across the country, my defense of Miley still stands. I don’t think she has any control in this matter. Her management may have something to do with this, but I am not going to point a finger at them without any proof. I think we need to work backwards through the chain starting with scalpers and ticketmaster as well as the other ticket broker sites.

I am going to start another post about this to support Miley. This should not be a career-ending catastrophe for her. Her message is still positive and I enjoy her show as well as her music. My kids are disappointed about not getting to go, but they know that they aren’t always going to get everything they want in life right when they want it. They may eventually see Miley Cyrus in concert, it just won’t be on this tour.

The major issue is that Ticketmaster is a monopoly and that is against the law. The KC City Council has called an emergency meeting to make AEG and the Sprint Center disclose how many tickets were available when they went on sale Saturday morning, which is the same thing I’ve been asking all along, but cannot get an answer, because once that # is out, then people will finally understand the problem, and see that the promoters are cutting deals to the resellers (scalpers) ensuring they don’t get stuck with unsold tickets. Will be interesting to see just how many there were. I guess less than 2000, for a 20000 seat arena.

Has anyone had any luck getting their credit card reimbursed $30 for purchasing the Miley fan club membership.

I emailed Miley World over a week ago but have heard nothing! I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

Got my 2 tickets. I paid for the fan club and was lucky enough to be able to get online the morning of the 9/11 presale for Chicago. And I do believe it was just a matter of luck. It took me 14 times before it said seats were available. Glad I kept trying. They’re in section 202 but my grand daughter and I are going. WooHoo!!!

    Re: credit card reimbursement.

My credit card company put a temporary credit on my account while they contact Mileyworld.com. I’ll let you know what happens.

Just curious, what type of credit card did you use (Discover, Visa, AMEX, etc.)?

same thing happened here in IL. I had different people online trying to purchase tickets at the same time and never got through because they said tickets were not available. We tried contacting ticketmaster only to get busy signals. And even the presale through the fan site didn’t provide the tickets at the special price they said and were sold out within minutes. I agree about the scalpers. Tickets should NOT be available to them for an event such as this. This is a kids concert where girls between ages of 3-13 would be attending, why would they do such a thing?

I had promise my daughter Hannah Montana tickets for her birthday and I will go to higher powers if need be…
