Youngest Person to Top Mount Everest is a Girl
Last week, Samantha Larson became the youngest person on record to climb to the summit of Mount Everest. Samantha, who climbed the peak with her father as part of the “Seven summits challenge” has now officially beat the challenge record set last year by 20 year old Rhys Miles Jones.
Samantha has been climbing since she was a kid and has reached the peaks of mountains such as Aconcagua in South America at the age of 13 and Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa at the age of 14.
Driven to excellence in everything she does, Samanatha has been known to practice her oboe in the snow on climbing treks as well as study to keep her grades up. It has obviously paid off as Samantha graduated near the top of her high school class and is planning to attend Stanford University in the fall. You can read about her climbing adventures on her blog at http://www.samanthalarson.blogspot.com/
Girls Can’t WHAT? salutes Samaatha Larson for a job well done! Guess I need to work on a Girls Can’t WHAT? climbing design.
Thanks to Kel1 for the heads up on this one.

Very cool… congrats Samantha that some accomplishment
Yep, you need to design a shirt and get one to this inspiring young woman!!!
Actually, I started a rock climber design a while back, maybe I should dig it out and finish it.
The youngest woman to reach mount everest was Ming Kipa Sherpa in 2003. She did it at the age of 15. She reached the summit with her 30-year-old sister Lhapka Sherpa.

id like to see you try to get to the top of the world!
Good job Samantha!!!
Way 2 go samantha!! that totally proves girls can do anything!
that picture is fales. you cant climb mount everest in jeans and a t-shirt..you would freeze to death. and wears her oxygen mask..theres no oxygen up there she would start halusinating in a matter of seconds. and weres all her ropes. there’s no way she was able to climb steep cliffs without really sturdy ropes. you know how high mount everest is right. the weather is 100 below zero. would you be wearing jeans and a t-shirt. this is a fraud and its not cool to trick young girls like this. cuz in 3 years when im 18 im climbing mount everest….and i have to start training for it now.!
cool
“
Audrey you are correct that she would need all that gear for Everest. The photo I used in the article was just a promotional picture of Samanatha. I don’t think it’s tricking anyone. If someone is serious about climbing, like you are, they would know the difference.
I hope to be writing an article about you climbing Mt. Everest soon.
Wow….Samantha must be an amazing climber! i cant believe she got to the top
i was reading an article in my class about how this guy Beck Weathers couldnt get to the top cuz he got like blind or something and he survived a storm and helicopters cant reach how high he was cuz they cant go over 20,000 feet i think and some person K.C. something went higher then 20,000 feet to get Beck Weathers but Beck told him to save this other guy and K.C. picked up the other guy, flew him down then came back for Weathers! THATS AMAZING!! Honastly i dont want to climb everest cuz im scared to die!

youngest but not the first

I can beat that!
“that picture is fales”
You really that smart? Try spelling before you go and whine about someone better than you.
Audrey, my dear, I saw someone climb Everest without oxygen AND COME BACK DOWN…without halucinating.
I really do doubt that picture was taken on that hill. Do you know how hard it is to take a picture while wearing three pairs of gloves?
Actions speak louder than words.
