No Wonder Our Perception Of Beauty is Distorted

Posted by: gretchen on April 16, 2007 |

My sister insisted I post the new Dove Commercial that shows the evolution of a “Supermodel”.  In light of the recent Hooters and Trophy Wife threads, it’s fabulous to take such an eye-opening look at how “beauty” is created.  This is an absolutely amazing video that every girl must see.

Okay, I’m not easily shocked, but I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped on this one!! I watched it a few times already and I am just in utter disbelief.

You know, I was at the store today and as I was standing in the checkout line, staring at all those magazines, I couldn’t help but think about this commercial. I already knew that every one of those covers was air-brushed and photo-shopped, but this time I was like “who cares?” I actually just thought “eh, that’s not really who they are” and I started thinking no wonder celebrities have a hard time with their self-image. They see themselves on those covers and then they look in the mirror and it’s not the same person. #-o
