Why Can’t Boys Have Bras?

Posted by: gretchen on March 23, 2007 |

It always surprises me how people land on my site. I realize with a title of “Girls Can’t WHAT?” that people expect to find different things based upon their mind-set at the time they are searching. (I will leave it at that but I think most of you know what I mean :D ) Anyway, when I browsed through my stats a few days ago I see the search string “why can’t boys have bras”. Do we really need to explain this? Should I write an article on this subject? Is this not being covered in Jr. High health class or what? =)) That’s like asking “why can’t girls wear jocks?” Hello. Anatomy 101.

I didn’t say “all the women on this site.” I just said “they,” if it refers to you then it’s your own issue. Do you just think its pointless because its not something that you can directly relate with? We all know that men don’t need to wear bras just like women don’t NEED to wear bras (lol, they didn’t in the 70’s! And its perfectly acceptable for women in other cultures not to wear them). But the original question was, “why cant men wear bras.” I think it’s more of a cultural question than anything else. Back in the day it would have been considered blasphemy for a woman to wear pants! If a woman even brought the idea up she would have either been scorned or just trivialized very much in the same way you are doing to the men who like to wear womens clothing. How is it really any different?
Closing the thread would just further prove my point that you are very judgmental towards things you dont understand.

I realize that you are just tying to pick fights here…every comment you have made is argumentative and is intended to push my buttons. You don’t know me and yet you are passing judgments on me and saying I am judgmental. I left this thread open (against the advice of many family members and friends) so that men who do wear them could make a rational argument.

Just because I don’t agree with it does not make my opinion wrong. If you don’t have anything constructive to say on this site, you are free to go elsewhere. The purpose of this site is to encourage other women. So far you have done nothing but attack those who do not share your view. /:) Your opinion is just as valuable as mine, but you could at least be respectful when sharing it. :-w

Actually I just agreed with something u said like 2 secs ago on another post, but whatev…
I never said your opinion was wrong, actually if you re-read my earlier post you will see that I even admitted to not advocating or understanding men who wear womens clothing! But you are judgmental, and any person who makes people reconsider their position (even if they dont change it) is constructive. Whether you like the way I say it or not.
Respect is not something that you can just have from me if you have shown you do not deserve it. Thanks for the heads up, i realize there are other sites than yours on the entire internet! But when i feel strongly about something I will comment, whether it’s for or against it! Thats the whole point of having a forum. Otherwise, just make it a blog so people cant respond!

Not only that, the comment I made on the corrinne bailey rae song, YOU came back and tried to post something argumentative towards ME. When the first thing i said was how much i liked her and her other songs!:-?

Ok, this discussion is going nowhere. :-t I wasn’t being argumentative - I just asked a question.

And do not insult my faithful readers by calling them stupid. Just show some respect around here - that is all I ask. :)>-

    “This discussion is going nowhere.”
Translation: “I have no real point to make.”

If I make a comment about the fact that I think someone is attractive, and then you come right behind me and say, “why would you judge someone on their looks?” It doesn’t take a fifth grade education to see that you were trying to be argumentative. Come on, talk about insulting your faithful readers-jeesh!

  8. 38. gretchen Says:

  9. 39. Bc Says:
